SOLUTION to Trauma
Strategic Hypnotherapy for Trauma in the Canberra Region
Trauma isn’t just an event from your past—it’s an experience that can linger, affecting your present and shaping how you navigate the world. The weight of trauma can leave you feeling anxious, overthinking, or avoiding situations that trigger painful memories. At Navigating Calm in the Canberra region, we understand how deeply personal your trauma is, which is why we tailor our approach to your unique needs, focusing on your future rather than revisiting your past.
We know that re-telling your story can be distressing, and you won’t be asked to relive it unless you feel ready. Instead, we work with how trauma impacts your life now—whether it’s through intrusive thoughts, feelings of being trapped, or behaviours that no longer serve you. Our goal is to help you break these patterns and replace them with healthier, more empowering responses that bring real change.
The future is yours to shape. By working with us, you’ll release the emotional ties that keep you stuck in old patterns and create a new path that’s fully in your hands. With the combined power of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Strategic Psychotherapy, you can rewrite your story and decide how your life unfolds.

Why a Combination of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Strategic Psychotherapy is More Powerful for Treating PTSD and Trauma
I use a blend of Strategic Psychotherapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to help you heal from trauma and manage PTSD. Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to reach the unconscious mind, where much of the emotional pain and fear related to trauma are stored. By guiding you into a deeply relaxed state, we can gently access and reframe those difficult memories, reducing their emotional intensity and helping you regain control over your reactions.
Strategic Psychotherapy goes beyond traditional talk therapy, as it’s focused on specific, goal-oriented interventions. Whether you’re dealing with flashbacks, hypervigilance, or avoidance behaviours, your treatment is tailored to address the areas that are keeping you stuck. By breaking down these unconscious patterns, we can shift how your mind processes traumatic memories, allowing for deeper, long-lasting relief. Whether your trauma stems from a single event or a longer series of experiences, we’ll work together to help you move forward with strength and confidence.
Research supports the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in treating trauma and PTSD, showing significant reductions in symptoms like flashbacks and anxiety. Studies have found that patients often experience meaningful progress after just a few sessions, which can create real, lasting change in how you experience and respond to past trauma.
I’ll guide you through the process of reshaping your responses to triggers in a safe, supportive space. You’ll begin to feel more grounded in the present, less controlled by the past, and more able to handle situations that once overwhelmed you.
With NLP, Hypnotherapy, and Strategic Psychotherapy, we’ll work together to create a solution that addresses not just the symptoms but the root cause of your emotional pain. You deserve to feel calm, in control, and at peace once again—and I’m here to help you achieve that.

Unlike the hypnosis shown on television and in movies, clinical hypnosis does not involved you doing anything against your will. In fact the power of clinical hypnosis and strategic psychotherapy comes from the client making their own choices from the suggestions that the therapist provides.
A Clinical Hypnotherapist uses hypnosis to achieve a state of mental, physical and emotional relaxation. When in this state, the conscious mind (that busy, critical, analytical part of the mind) takes a rest. Hypnosis allows people to tap into the information that lies in the subconscious mind and make positive changes to thought patterns, habits or behaviours that are having a negative mental or physical impact.
The experience of hypnosis will be different for each client. For some, it is a heightened awareness; for others, a profound relaxation. Sometimes the client hears every word the hypnotist says, and other times the voice fades in and out or becomes completely inaudible. In strategic hypnotherapy and clinical hypnosis the client is always free to alter the hypnotic experience or awaken at will.
Hypnosis is a normal, naturally occurring, healthy state of mind. There are no known documented cases of clinical hypnosis resulting in harm. (Analysis of known studies.)
Hypnosis feels like complete physical and mental relaxation. Everyone will experience it differently, based on their own circumstances. It has been likened to daydreaming, or the state of mind just before drifting off to sleep. The hypnotic state of relaxation allows the busy mind to quieten, and the stored resources of the unconscious mind to be accessed and used to create new pathways.
